Rotary Peony Harvest Picnic    

Sunday 13th November, 2016

Romswood Farm is situated in the Macedon Ranges and is approximately 15 minutes from Woodend.

This is a Rotary Club of Melbourne Fundraiser in support of the End Trachoma Now Project.
Groups, members, friends & children all welcome.
Picnic with activities including tours and flower picking are planned.

Art In Action Cityscape in Elsternwick    

10 am to 3.30 pm Sunday 6 November – Elsternwick Plaza. (free event)

Observe artists in action in an urban environment.  Artists will spread out from Elsternwick Plaza, near Elsternwick Station and down Glen Huntly Road to Orrong Road and surrounding areas between 10am and 3.30 pm on Sunday 6 November.  Children welcome to participate in colouring in pictures.

“Breaking the Cycle” - Conference for anti-violence workers    

Dr David Smyth, chair of Rotary-backed Violence Free Families (Vic) and ex-director, Rotary Club of Brighton, is among the speakers at Akolade’s 2nd“Breaking the Cycle” conference from September 27-29 at Crowne Plaza, Melbourne.

The conference focuses on how not-for-profits in this field can deliver their services efficiently. States have committed large sums (Vic, $527m; NSW,  $300m) to combat domestic and family violence.  Front-line agencies  need to tap the new funding, scale up, diversify, and innovate. The 20-plus speakers on  best practices are from as far afield as Break the Cycle units, Los Angeles and Minnesota.

Come and see this wonderful concert.  The most recent of Alan Kogosowski’s concerts in June, 2016 received a standing ovation. This beautiful Church building has very good acoustics so this enhances the sound and visual concepts.

Zone Institute    

As Rotary International Director for Zones 7B and 8, Noel Trevaskis is the convenor responsible for Zone Institutes during the next two years. Updates on all major Rotary projects and programs, inspiring guest speakers, fun and friendship are the incentives for past, present and future leaders to register now for the Combined Zones 7B and 8 Institute at Penrith, NSW, in September.

The Institute will be staged from Thursday, September 1, to Saturday 3, and will be preceded by special planning and education meetings for district governors, governors elect and governors nominee from Monday, August 29, to Wednesday, August 31.

Nominations are also being called from ALL Australian and New Zealand Rotary districts for registrations for the Future Leaders Seminar to be conducted pre-Institute. These Rotarians are also welcome to ’grow’ their Rotary knowledge by attending business sessions at the subsequent Institute. Farewell Evening for Daryl Mills - Rotary Liaison Officer in East Timor    

A special evening of review, thanks and farewell to Daryl Mills is to  be held on Tuesday 26th July, 2016 by The Rotary Club of Balwyn at Greenacres Golf Club Elm Street, Kew starting at 6.15 for 6.45pm.

Daryl’s commitment to Timor Leste over the last 12 years has been outstanding and his legacy lives on through his training of several locals to continue this vital work.

Camberwell Art Show: It’s on Again

Now in its 51st year, Camberwell Rotary Club’s Art Show is on from Friday 9th July to Sunday 17th July 2016 at Swinburne University Advanced Technology Centre, Burwood Road, Hawthorn.

In 1999 The Herald Sun became the Art Show’s major sponsor following the demise of the Herald Sun Outdoor Art Show. In recent years, the Art Show has attracted up to 7,000 visitors annually.

Due to redevelopment of the Art Show’s traditional venue, the Camberwell Centre, the show has moved to the Swinburne University Advanced Technologies Centre; its massive glass edifice and impressive facilities that is popular with artists and customers.

Bayside Art Show 2016    

Funds raised by The Bayside Art Show, a Rotary Club of Brighton initiative, are used for a variety of Community Projects. The art show is also the major fundraiser for the Brighton Recreational Centre, a not-for-profit community organisation that provides a diversity of recreational, sporting and cultural activities for all age groups in the local community.
