Thomas Baker Oration - Our Digital Lives in the 2020’s    

In 2015, the Rotary Club of Melbourne decided to commemorate the contribution of its 9th President, Thomas Baker, to the fields of medicine/science/technology and philanthropy. The inaugural address was made in July 2016 by Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel AO.

On 7 June, the 2017 Oration will be presented by the distinguished Dr Ziggy Switkowski AO, Chancellor of RMIT University. His inspiring topic will be “Our Digital Lives in the 2020’s”.

With 100 years of service to the community, it's time to celebrate and bring members of the community together with Rotarians from right across Australia wide for a Gala Fundraising Dinner, held right here in Melbourne (the home of the 1st Rotary Club in Australia - Rotary Club of Melbourne).

The Rotary Club of Southbank is proud to host this Centennial Foundation Dinner and auction and along with corporate sponsors and the Australian Rotary Districts have set the challenge of raising AU$1,000,000 in contributions and bequests which will help set up the foundation for an even more exciting 100 years and beyond.

The Sumba Eye Program is totally voluntary with no administration fees. Its aim, in true Rotary fashion, is to set up an eye care system in Sumba. All proceeds of the Dinner and Auction event will be used to further the amazing work being conducted by dedicated teams of surgeons, optometrists and nurses to provide eye surgery to the impoverished people in this isolated part of Indonesia.

Time To Draw the Line    

Great news! Friends of Baguia (supported by Hawthorn Rotary) is hosting a special one-time screening of the film Time To Draw the Line, Tuesday May 2nd, 7pm at Palace Cinemas Como. This film is about the campaign for a fair go for East Timor and that nation's desire to sttle its long running boundary dispute with Australia.

Friends of Baguia president Derarca O'Mahony will be introducing the film, which includes footage of our projects. It is a great film to update yourself on this issue.

Gemma and St Jude’s graduate Winrose will share their inspirational story.

Tim Cartwright - "Holding Them to Account"

Come and hear about Tim’s journey and how he will use his expertise and experience in his new role.

Tim was appointed as the State’s Family Violence Reform Implementation Monitor in August 2016. He will report to the Parliament annually on the progress against the Family Violence Royal Commission’s 227 recommendations, and on the implementation of the state’s Family Violence Action Plan.

Tim retired from Victoria Police on 4 July, 2015, after over 41 years service.

The Rotary Club of Williamstown is holding their Annual Childrens Christmas Fairon  Sunday, 4th December, 2017 between 11am -3pm at the Seaworks Precinct, 82 Nelsons Place, Williamstown  

Entry is Free for children, $2 for adults.       

There will be  lots of free entertainment for children, rides, facepainting, petting nursery, Santa and food stalls to buy food.

Japanese Cultural Afternoon    

In association with the City of Glen Eira, the Rotary Club of Glen Eira is holdings its special biannual "Japanese Afternoon" on Sunday 13th November at Glen Eira Town Hall. Compered by media host Yumi Stynes, all of Melbourne can experience traditional Japanese culture, handcrafts, performance and food.
